FAQ

The following list of frequently asked questions is included for your quick reference. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please e-mail your questions to us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What is “POD” technology?
Print-on-demand, or “POD” means that copies of your book are printed and provided to customers when they order and pay for your book. There is no print run, inventory, or unsold stock.

How do you compare to “traditional” publishing?
DREAM13PRESS is a self-publishing service provider. Our goal is to offer you services that will give you the best possible publishing experience while taking advantage of the low cost associated with print-on-demand publishing.

How do I know you will publish my book?
Unlike traditional publishers, we do not “accept” or “reject” anyone: we are here for all writers who wish to self-publish. You can publish your book with us if it meets a few simple content guidelines, length guidelines, and technical requirements. DREAM13PRESS will not publish books that violate or infringe upon any personal or proprietary right, including, without limitation: copyrights, trademark rights, trade secret rights, contract rights, privacy rights or publicity rights of any other persons.

In addition, we will not publish work that is defamatory, pornographic or obscene to a degree that it would not be carried by a traditional trade bookstore. Books cannot, in any other way, be illegal or include any recipes, formulae, instructions or recommendations that may be injurious to any reader, user or third person. DREAM13PRESS does not republish works in the public domain.

Is there inventory or a warehouse? How many copies do you publish?
Since we are a POD (print-on-demand) publisher, there are no print runs, inventory or stockpiles of your book in a warehouse. Copies of your book are printed as you order them.

Do you pay advances or royalties?
Unlike traditional publishers, we do not pay advances or royalties. Once the printing is complete any money you make from selling your book is yours.

Tell me about your publishing contracts – do I retain rights?
Our publishing agreement is non-exclusive so you retain all rights to your book, including the cover design.

What types of books do you publish?
We publish books in all genres. We can publish just about any type of book as long as it meets some simple content, length, and technical guidelines and as long as it does not violate the rules listed above (see “How do I know you will publish my book?”).

Can I include color photos in my book?
DREAM13PRESS currently offers color printing inside the text block (the text of the book between the front and back covers) in 2 trim sizes, 8.5×8.5 and 8.5×11. Please e-mail us at questions@dream13press.comfor pricing. Please include the number of pages and graphics to be included.

Is DREAM13PRESS an out-of-print service?
With the DREAM13PRESS print-on-demand service, authors can now bring back their out-of-print titles.

What books qualify for your “Out-in-Print” Program?
To qualify for this program, a book must have been professionally published and bound, with an ISBN number and listed in Books Out-of-Print. If any of these conditions are not met, the work should be submitted as a new manuscript.

Does an “on demand” title have the same quality as the original?
Very close! DREAM13PRESS titles are virtually identical to offset-printed originals. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. We produce clean graphics, vibrant 4-color covers, and easy-to-read text.
